Washington State Fair Representation in Redistricting 2021

The Fair Representation in Redistricting Launch will cover the importance of fair, inclusive, and transparent redistricting process through the telling of experiences that have taken place as a result of the unfair redistricting processes in the past. Hear from community members, organization leads, and elected officials working on creating a fair representative redistricting process.

Historically, the Washington State Redistricting Commission has not been representative of the state's population. As part of a state-wide coalition, we demand that the parties select a more diverse redistricting commission and staff, to include a woman and/or Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color to the commission. In addition, we would them to expand language access, as well as an increase the number of public meetings that communities can attend.
